Montmartre is certainly one of the most popular tourist destinations. But visiting it with young kids can sometimes be challenging! At Meet the Locals, we know how to captivate your little darlings by offering a playful safari. Your kiddos will follow the clues of a sly black cat to discover animals all around Montmartre! This whimsical walking tour will offer you the best conditions to appreciate the artistic atmosphere and the fascinating history of this district.
At the beginning of the tour, your “Mary Poppins” guide will hand out an activity booklet containing questions and mild riddles, allowing your kids to take advantage of their Montmartre visit.
Starting from Anvers metro station, you will already catch a glimpse of the majestic Sacré-Coeur, your next stop. An enjoyable cable-car ride will drive you up to the hill. From the church esplanade, the view is going to stun your whole family! There is also a secret to unlock (hint: it is always what is right in front of one’s eyes that is the most hidden).
A little further away, on Place du Tertre, painters hang out and provide a bustling ambiance. Your kid-friendly guide will lead you to observe details that others are not paying attention to.
As you go on a quest for hiding animals, at the following stops ‑ a charming museum and a former bohemian workshop ‑ your children will hear about the extraordinary lives of these revolutionary painters. Through funny riddles and entertaining games, they will learn about Montmartre while on the lookout for furry and feathery friends.
You cannot speak about Montmartre without speaking about its windmills, vineyards, and cabarets. Your kiddos’ observational skills and the black cat will lead them to relive some crucial moments of Montmartre history.
As you reach the public gardens, you will learn that they possess remarkable surprises with statues holding hilarious anecdotes. As they are solving the enigmas, your children will be able to shake hands with a former local resident, cure another person’s headache, and receive a French lesson in romance.
We have succeeded in turning Montmartre into an ideal jungle playground and are eager to have you on board with us!
And if you are looking for a Montmartre tour for older kids (over 8), check out our Montmartre Inquiry!
We have passionately tailored this Paris for Kids tour to be adapted to younger ages. If you have older children in tow, we recommend our fun Montmartre Inquiry!
Montmartre looks quite hilly, but our tour’s path has been planned to first take the cable car to the top of the hill. Your “Mary Poppins” guide will then adapt the speed of the tour to include a few stops if needed.
Going inside the Sacré-Coeur is not included in this visit. However, you can easily visit it by yourselves after the tour since your last stop is very close to it.

We had an amazing experience today in Montmartre. Sean, our guide, was both knowledgeable and engaging. It is a perfect
tour for a family with kids.

For our Montmartre tour we were really looking forward to seeing Nathalie again. It would have been a shame to leave Paris without seeing this unique area, and Nathalie knew just where to take us (and when) to avoid the crowds. I think her idea of starting closer to the top of the hill and working our way down was brilliant. We really enjoyed the ease and intimacy of our tours. It truly was like having a knowledgeable friend taking you around Paris.

We booked two tours (the Louvre family treasure hunt and day trip around Montmatre, tuk tuk ride and boat cruise) and both
were excellent. We had the same tour guide Laurine who was amazing. The kids just loved her stories and they learnt so
much about French history. She kept them entertained and engaged all day. Highly recommend!!

We actually spent two days on private tours with Meet the Locals – Louvre Treasure Hunt, walk to Notre Dame (couldn’t go in, as this was just a week after the fire), Seine River Cruise, Eiffel Tour, then on day 2 Montmartre treasure hunt, tuk-tuk ride to St-Germain, chocolate tour. Our guide for the two days was Sebastian, who was wonderful. We were a group of six ranging in age from 8 to 69 (!) so he had his work cut out keeping us all entertained. I have been to Paris many times, but even I learned lots of new things. Thomas was great in designing an itinerary for us for the two days and patiently answering our many questions and giving us advice. The only thing I would change was, for us, the chocolate tour could have been shorter. As a stand-alone tour, it’s probably fine as is, but I think as the last thing on two days of tours, a shorter tour would have been OK. I have no hesitation recommending Meet the Locals.
