Alessandra has always been fascinated by ancient history. She studied Prehistory and Protohistory of the Near East, earned a PhD in Mediterranean Ancient Cultures, and spent over ten years excavating in Turkey and Syria, including at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Arslantepe. Her very first dig was right in the Roman Forum!
She studied and lived in Aleppo, Damascus, and Leiden, speaks Turkish, and understands a bit of Arabic, helped, of course, by the famous Italian power of gestures! At home, she shares her life with two enormous cats, Patty and Safir, and a husband who is a physiotherapist (a lifesaver after long walking tours).
She loves art, history, traveling, cooking, and playing board games. Being a guide in Rome is her greatest joy, a way to share stories and beauty every day, surrounded by meaningful memories.
