Your experience starts with a unique role-playing game: each family member draws a card to discover their character in Ancient Rome—whether emperor, senator, vestal virgin, or gladiator ready for battle! The excitement builds inside the Colosseum, where your guide recreates the intense atmosphere of this ancient arena, explaining how Roman society’s hierarchy was reflected in the seating, with the emperor and senators near the action, while common citizens sat higher up. Kids stay engaged with a special activity booklet filled with puzzles, games, and challenges, making learning about history both fun and memorable.

From the Colosseum, your journey leads to the Roman Forum, immersing you in the heart of ancient public life. Here, children step into the role of young archaeologists, learning to identify the ruins of historic structures that once formed the bustling center of Roman politics and society. With your guide’s vivid storytelling, the Forum seems to come alive before you: picture Romans in togas strolling, debating, and celebrating along the Sacred Way, the triumphal road where Caesar’s centurions once marched proudly after countless battles and conquests. Among the ruins, children will recognize iconic landmarks like the Temple of Saturn, the Arch of Septimius Severus, and the Basilica of Maxentius and Constantine, each bearing witness to the grandeur of ancient Rome.

The tour concludes on the terrace of Palatine Hill, where legend says Romulus founded Rome after a fierce rivalry with his twin, Remus. Here, your guide will share the story of Rome’s origins as you take in breathtaking panoramic views of the ancient city. This vantage point not only overlooks the Forum and Colosseum but also offers views of the Arch of Titus, the Aventine and Capitoline hills, and even St. Peter’s Basilica, blending ancient and modern Rome into one awe-inspiring sight.

Will we have to wait in line?

We provide skip-the-line tickets, but please note that on very busy days, there may still be a short wait for mandatory security checks, which unfortunately cannot be bypassed.

How is time split between the Colosseum and the Roman Forum?

We usually spend around 2 hours in the Colosseum, with the rest of the tour dedicated to the Roman Forum.

Can we stay longer in the Roman Forum or re-enter the Colosseum after the tour?

Yes, you’re welcome to stay in the Roman Forum after the family tour to explore at your own pace. However, re-entry to the Colosseum or the Forum area isn’t allowed once you leave, as tickets are single-entry only. 

Is it suitable for young kids?

We recommend this tour for children who can read and write, as these skills are needed to fully enjoy the interactive game booklet. However, our family-friendly guide can easily adapt the experience for younger kids to ensure everyone has fun!

Will my teens enjoy this Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum tour?

Absolutely! Teens will love the interactive role-playing game, where they can step into the roles of an emperor, gladiator, or senator. While they won’t receive an activity booklet like younger children, their guide—a talented storyteller—will captivate them and keep them engaged and entertained throughout the tour.

Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?

While step-free access is available for the Colosseum, certain areas may not be fully accessible to strollers or wheelchairs due to uneven terrain and staircases.

What if it rains during the tour?

Rain or shine, the tour goes on—so get ready to enjoy Rome’s wonders in any weather! Pack an umbrella, and you’ll be glad you did (unlike the Romans, who had no such luck 2,000 years ago!). No worries, though; there are plenty of cozy spots along the way to duck out of the rain if needed.

      • Cancellations made 7 days or more prior to the date of your tour will receive a full refund. Exceptions are: for tours with tickets we charge a 20% cancellation fee; for the Eiffel Tower and Versailles tours (see below for specific cancellation charges).
      • Cancellations made between 7 days and 48 hours prior to the date of your tour will receive a 50% refund.
      • Bookings cancelled within 48 hours of the date of your tour will be charged in full.

      For Eiffel Tower activities:

      • Cancellations made 5 days or more prior to the date of your tour will receive a 60% refund.
      • Bookings cancelled within 5 days of the date of your tour will be charged in full.

      For Versailles:

      • Cancellations made 7 days or more prior to the date of your tour will be charged a 250€ cancellation fee.
      • Cancellations made between 7 days and 48 hours prior to the date of your tour will receive a 50% refund.

      For Workshops and Classes:

      • Cancellations made 10 days or more prior to the date of your workshop/class will receive a 50% refund.
