Overview

Note: The food tour operates Tuesdays through Saturdays at 11am or 5pm.

Is your tummy rumbling? It will be when you read our mouth-watering, fun-filled itinerary for enjoying the best foods in France with your family.

This kid-friendly food tour takes place on Île Saint Louis, a tiny island on the Seine in the heart of Paris. With just 8 residential streets and 4 quays, this unspoilt neighbourhood is home to fine restaurants, passionate food artisans and superb architecture. Île Saint Louis provides an authentic Parisian experience for foodies of all ages away from the crowded streets of Montmartre and le Marais, and perfectly reflects the high quality of the dishes you’ll enjoy.

Stop One: The Baguette. Probably the most important food for the French – this is not just bread, oh no, this is French bread! This boulangerie supplies baguettes to the oldest and most revered (and expensive!) restaurant in Paris: La Tour d’Argent. If you can’t get a reservation, you can at least try their bread!

Stop Two: Foie Gras is a symbol of wealth and sophistication across the world. This family-run business makes award-winning products, supplying the most exclusive establishments across France since 1920 and now, of course, you!

Stop Three: Cheese. We love cheese. Did you know cheese production is over 7000 years old? Medieval French monks ate it as a staple food and today there are around 1,200 different French cheeses! We can’t promise them all on your plate, but you will taste four of the finest cheeses around. Our cheesemaker at this excellent fromagerie makes his very own varieties.

Stop Four: Confectionary. Now might be the perfect time to taste a famous aid to digestion! The Parisian outlet of this artisan confectionary business sells their special ‘Pastilles du Bassin de Vichy,’ and since 1825 they’ve been soothing the over-full stomachs of enthusiastic eaters across France and beyond.

Stop Five: French Onion Soup. Kids will especially love the medieval-inspired setting of our next stop. This is a fantasy world of a knight’s adventures: frescoes, coats of arms, stained glass windows and period furniture re-create historic times – the perfect place to enjoy traditional French onion soup and a glass of wine, beer (or soft drink).

And if you feel adventurous, you can also try ‘escargots’ (snails). Not included in the tour price, they can be ordered and paid for in addition.

Stop Six: Crêpes. Finally enjoy a sweet treat: a French crêpe. Light as air and as pretty as French lace, choose sugar, lemon or Nutella topping to complete your foodie tour.

And if you need to walk-off those extra calories, don’t worry as we will finish near the beautiful Notre Dame where you can admire its magnificent façade and hear about its history (or take a tour inside on your own after the tour).

And if after your family food tour you are looking for another foodie lovers experience, have a look at our Sweet & Chocolate tour in Paris!
