But at Meet the Locals, we craft tours with the whole family in mind. That means this not-to-be-missed journey to Stonehenge and Windsor Castle is hassle-free for you and engaging for your kids. What’s not to love?

Your private chauffeur and “Mary Poppins” guide will pick you up at your hotel or apartment in London. Prepare to travel back in time! 

After just two hours, you will arrive in the past! 5000 years ago at Stonehenge, our Neolithic ancestors created a sanctuary out of about 100 upright stones. They moved this 25-35 metric-ton stones with just rudimentary tools. How was this possible?? Your kid-friendly guide will explain all the mystery and mysticism of this prehistoric site. Can your family decipher the secrets the New Stone Age inhabitants left behind? While there, you will visit a reproduction of a typical house that would be found at that time. Your “Mary Poppins” guide will bring history to life with their stories!

Get back in your luxury time machine and join the modern world back in the present when you arrive at Windsor Castle. This is the largest and oldest living castle in the world! This is a real treat, because it is very rare to visit the inside of royal residences. Experience life as a royal for a day. What do they eat? What do they do in their spare time? You’re about to find out! 

Windsor Castle hosts over 1000 years of history, but your awesome storyteller knows how to breathe life into its walls. Perhaps one of the most interesting parts of your tour will be the State Rooms. This is where Her Majesty the Queen hosts leaders from all over the world, as well as other members of the Royal Family. Not only are these rooms extravagant and luxurious, but these are the real rooms where prime ministers and presidents interact with the royals! 

You will also get the pleasure of seeing Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House. This hidden gem is a replica of an early 20th century house, but 1/12th the size. It was constructed by the top craftsmen of the day, and includes designer furniture, wine bottles, a library of leather-bound books, running water and electricity, and even working elevators! No design element was too little to be included in this work of art! 

Don’t forget to visit the Chapel before you go, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, recently tied the knot to a worldwide audience of 3 billion. Additionally, the last generation of royals are buried in this Chapel.

This journey will be a long day, but your kids will be totally engaged the whole time. Between uncovering the mysteries of Stonehenge and experiencing the magic of the Royal Family, your family is sure to have tons of fun while learning on this unmissable tour!

IMPORTANT NOTE: the State Apartments at Windsor Castle are closed on April 16th & 22nd, May 4th, 6th & 7th and June 14th and 16th. St George’s chapel at Windsor Castle will be closed on Sundays for mass and on April 8th, June 12th and 13th.

Is this tour suitable for all ages?

Yes! Your kid-friendly guide knows just how to adapt their speech to any and all ages, making your trip through time interesting and engaging for everyone. Additionally, every child will be given an activity booklet at Windsor Castle to make this visit even more amusing.

Does this activity include skip-the-line tickets?

Meet the Locals for Families provides priority access tickets for these visits, but there still may be a wait for security checks, which simply cannot be avoided. Also, there is often a short wait for the shuttle to Stonehenge, but we promise that the site is well worth the wait! 

Can we have a guide chauffeur instead of both a chauffeur and a guide to economize our costs?

At Meet the Locals, we hold the firm belief that if we are going to create an activity for your family, we are going to do it right. This means that this tour should have a separate chauffeur and guide. It will be a long day, and we want your guide to be able to focus on your family and giving you all the attention and insights that you need. Also, parking can be a mess, and we don’t want to slow you down with searching for a spot. Rather, you deserve a guide that has your full attention, and a private chauffeur with a luxury van to make your trip the most convenient and comfortable that it can be. This is a once-in-a-lifetime activity, and we do not want to offer you anything less than our best! 

Will we see the Queen or another member of the Royal family?

While Her Majesty the Queen and other members of the Royal family visit Windsor often, it is unlikely that they will be seen, as they often remain in sections of the castle off-limits to visitors. Even royals need some privacy every now and then!

      • Cancellations made 7 days or more prior to the date of your tour will receive a full refund. Exceptions are: for tours with tickets we charge a 20% cancellation fee; for the Eiffel Tower and Versailles tours (see below for specific cancellation charges).
