With this full-day family tour, you will travel back in time to relive several periods of history in some of the most outstanding locations in Britain! From our Neolithic ancestors to the Romans to the British elite of the early 19th century, experience it all. So get ready, buckle up, close your eyes, and…off we go!!  

Start your morning bright and early, when your kid-friendly guide and private chauffeur picks you up at your hotel or location of your choice in London in your time travel machine (disguised as a modern luxury van). After about two hours, you will arrive near Stonehenge, and then take a shuttle to the monument. It was built over 5000 years ago! These prehistoric stones are full of mysteries, and you and your kids will have fun deciphering the secrets that our Neolithic ancestors left behind! Who were the New Stone Age inhabitants of this region and why did they build this sanctuary? How did people move these 25-35 metric ton stones with just rudimentary tools? Your awesome storyteller guide will be there to guide you through your mystical discoveries, making these imposing stones approachable for family members of any and every age. While you’re there, you will also visit the reproduction of a typical house of that time.

Once you have learned all about the enigmas of this unique site, your private chauffeur will pick you up with your guide and transport you 3000 years into the future to the town of Bath. This beautiful town is renowned for its ancient Roman Baths and its striking honey-colored Georgian architecture. Your guide will recommend some restaurants for a yummy lunch based on your tastes. 

Once you’ve satisfied your appetite, your family will visit both the location of the original Roman Baths– the only natural hot springs in Britain- and the modern Thermae Bath spa. They are fascinating! Learn about how the Romans spent their leisure time here, the incredible construction that was needed for a structure like this one, and some of the artifacts that were found on that site. These baths are so important to the town’s history that it was named after them! 

Next you won’t have to travel physically to be transported 1800 years into the future. Hear all about when this town, several centuries after the Romans, when it was the center of British society. Your guide will explain the clothes, make up, and established rules of behavior of the elite. Jane Austen spent time in Bath and wrote two novels there. Discover the source of her inspiration! The town is also known for its marvelous Georgian style. Marvel at the architecture as you walk around the town, such as at Bath Abbey and the Crescent. 

After you’ve explored this striking town, your private chauffeur and guide will drive you back to the present in London. Spend the time talking about the secrets of Stonehenge, the beauty of Bath, your short-lived magical powers as a time traveler, or the lovely memories you made with your family along the way.

Meet the Locals for Families provides pre-paid tickets for these visits, but there still may be a wait for security checks, which simply cannot be avoided. Also, there is often a short wait for the shuttle to Stonehenge, but we promise that the site is well worth the wait! 

Can we have a guide chauffeur instead of both a chauffeur and a guide to economize our costs?

At Meet the Locals, we hold the firm belief that if we are going to create an activity for your family, we are going to do it right. This means that this tour should have a separate chauffeur and guide. It will be a long day, and we want your guide to be able to focus on your family and giving you all the attention and insights that you need. Also, parking in Bath can be a mess, and we don’t want to slow you down with searching for a spot. Rather, you deserve a guide that has your full attention, and a private chauffeur with a luxury van to make your trip the most convenient and comfortable that it can be. Will we visit the Jane Austen museum in this tour?

Unfortunately there is never enough time to see it all, so we will not visit the Jane Austen museum. However, if you are very keen on visiting it, we can make time by skipping another part of the visit. Just talk to our superhero team here about this alteration.
