Exploring Florence with kids doesn’t have to feel like an uphill battle—it can be a family quest filled with discovery and fun! This 3-hour private tour is tailor-made for little adventurers, blending history, art, and playful activities. Your journey begins at Piazza della Repubblica, where the echoes of ancient Roman life still linger. Once a bustling forum, this square hides secrets your guide will bring to life with engaging stories and challenges that captivate the whole family. Whether solving clues in their leaflets or hunting for their first animals, kids and parents alike will dive into the magic of ancient Florentia.

Next, it’s time to admire Florence’s most iconic masterpiece: the Duomo. Standing before its multicolored marble façade, you’ll hear about the architectural genius behind its construction and the vision that shaped one of the greatest symbols of the Renaissance. How did Brunelleschi manage to design such a daring dome? Your guide will share the fascinating details and answer the big questions in a way that keeps everyone curious and engaged. Inside, the contrast is striking: the richly decorated exterior gives way to a more austere interior. But the dome’s frescoes steal the show, depicting the dramatic Last Judgment. As you gaze up, you’ll uncover the secrets of how Renaissance artists accomplished such an incredible feat—no modern tools required!
The adventure continues through Florence’s charming streets to Orsanmichele, a building with a fascinating double life. Once a granary and now a church, its statues hold incredible stories that everyone will enjoy. Little ones can continue their safari, spotting animals carved into the sculptures, while older kids uncover the hidden history behind this remarkable transformation.
Then, it’s on to Piazza della Signoria, Florence’s famous open-air museum. Here, the towering Palazzo Vecchio and the replica of Michelangelo’s David set the stage for exciting tales of artistic genius and political intrigue. Your guide will ensure that everyone, from curious kids to history-loving parents, stays engaged with fascinating facts and fun challenges.
And, of course, no visit to Florence is complete without crossing the Ponte Vecchio. This colorful medieval bridge, once home to butchers and now glittering with jewelers’ displays, is a favorite for families. It’s the perfect spot for a memorable family photo and a moment to imagine life in Florence centuries ago.
Finally, your adventure ends with a well-deserved reward: a stop at a traditional gelateria, where we’ll treat you to a scoop of creamy, artisanal gelato. After your exciting journey of discoveries, challenges, and shared moments, it’s the perfect way to celebrate your family’s fun-filled time in Florence.
And if you look for an exclusive access to the Duomo, have a look at our Florence Family Tour: David and the Duomo with VIP Access!
Yes, you’ll enjoy an inside visit to the Duomo with fast-track access, allowing you to bypass the long entrance lines. While there may still be a brief wait for security checks, it’s minimal compared to the hours-long queues others face.

No, the Dome climb is not part of this tour. However, we recommend planning it at the end of your visit, as it’s an incredible experience to see Florence from above. Please keep in mind that it involves climbing 463 steps, with no elevators available, so it requires a good level of physical fitness and may not be suitable for everyone. If you’d like to include it in your day, let us know in our contact form, and we can help you plan accordingly!
This tour already includes a fun and engaging game, but if your children are very young, we recommend the shorter 2-hour Florence Treasure Hunt version instead. The main difference is that this 3-hour tour includes the interior of the Duomo, which, while impressive, may not be as exciting for younger kids compared to the more fast-paced activities in the shorter version.
Absolutely! Even though we won’t use the leaflet for them, our guides are excellent storytellers who know how to captivate teens with fascinating historical anecdotes. And if they’re up for a little challenge, we suggest climbing the Dome at the end of the tour—463 steps to brag about and unbeatable views of the city as a reward! Totally optional, of course!
