Is this best of edinburgh a good fit for young kids?

Absolutely! Our guides are expert storytellers who adapt beautifully to kids of all ages-even the little ones with short attention spans. Just a heads-up: the activity booklet is designed for children who can read, so it won’t be used with younger kids. But don’t worry, they’ll still love the stories, the castle, and the chance to explore like little adventurers.

Is the tour teen-friendly?

Yes! Our guides are handpicked for their ability to connect with all ages, including those hard-to-impress teens. With dramatic stories, cool historical facts, and a family quiz that pits kids against parents, we usually win them over-even if they try not to show it.

Will we have to queue to get inside the Castle?

We provide skip-the-line tickets to Edinburgh Castle, so you’ll bypass the main ticket queue. On very busy days, there might still be a short wait at security or to see the Crown Jewels (those are popular!). But it’s still the fastest and smoothest entry.

Is the tour wheelchair and stroller accessible?

Edinburgh’s Old Town and the Castle have their fair share of cobbled streets and hills-that’s part of the charm! Many areas are accessible, but due to the nature of historic buildings, some Castle interiors are not wheelchair- or stroller-friendly. Strollers aren’t allowed inside certain rooms, but your guide will assist and can wait outside with it if needed. We always plan the route to avoid stairs, and for comfort, we recommend a lightweight or all-terrain stroller.

Is there a lot of walking during the tour?

We cover a fair bit of ground, but always at your family’s pace. This is a private tour, not a race! Think of it more as a gentle stroll through 3,000 years of history-with time to pause, snack, and soak in the views.

What happens if it rains?

Welcome to Scotland, where you might experience four seasons in one day! The tour goes ahead rain or shine, so bring raincoats, umbrellas, and maybe a sense of humor. Your guide will adapt the route if needed to keep everyone as dry and comfortable as possible.
