Overview

This playful Paris chocolate tour is a unique combination of history and French sweet tastings in the elegant district of Saint-Germain-des-Près. During this two and a half hour stroll, your “Mary Poppins” guide will share thrilling anecdotes while your kids will need to find answers to (easy) riddles about the places you will be visiting for your yummy tastings.

Your starting point is by the Saint Germain Church where your kid-friendly guide will offer you a first tasting: a chouquette. This French specialty, a baked and fluffy pastry, consists of small-sized dough sprinkled with pearl sugar…. simple but delicious!

You will then visit a 200-year-old chocolate factory that specializes in high-quality chocolates. Taste what Napoleon and Queen Marie-Antoinette savored, as they were usual clients for this brand formed in 1779!

Let’s now visit the paradise of macarons. This cookie made of almonds was born in Italy and traveled to France with the chef of Catherine de Medicis. Since then, this pastry has become one of the most famous French pastries in the world. You can find it in many flavors but it always keeps its round form.

A Paris Chocolate Tour- yummy and fun at the same time!

The next tasting of this family sweet and chocolate tour will be at a Chocolate Mousse Bar offering mousses made with chocolates from all over the world. This is the perfect occasion to experience a new chocolate texture while learning about cocoa in general!

From there, follow your “Mary Poppins” guide to what is reputed to be the temple of jam! With hundreds of different flavors to taste, we guarantee you will love this place. From simple ingredients to complex combinations, you can find all types of tastes, even salty!

It’s toffee time! But not just any toffee. Get ready to taste the award-winning best caramel in France!

A Paris chocolate tour without a traditional French waffle is meaningless. This dessert, traditionally from Lille, was General Charles De Gaulle’s favorite. You will visit a boutique open since 1849 that produces thin, ever so fine waffles filled with different flavors: vanilla, raspberry blackcurrant, or even caramel.

Your next boutique is one that dates back to 1830 and has kept its delicate recipe of “calissons”: a crushed mixture of candied melons and almonds of Provence placed on a sheet of unleavened bread and covered with a thin layer of royal frosting.

Time now to travel to Brittany and taste the “kouign amann,” which means “butter cake” in Breton. The recipe becomes evident at your first bite. For Bretons, this dessert can come head-to-head with crêpes.

By now, you will have learned enough about sweets and chocolates. Your kids are ready to make their own chocolate bar! Your last stop is at a chocolate factory where a whole universe of chocolate awaits your young chefs. With a large selection of toppings, they will be able to design their dream chocolate bar! But it doesn’t end there. There is one more form of chocolate you need to taste to finish in beauty: a delicious chocolate drink that can be either warm or cold.

And if you look for a 100% chocolate-making experience, have a look at our Luxury Chocolate Family Tour & Workshop!

We managed to do 3 private tours with Meet the Locals plus all our airport transfers – Treasure Hunt at the Louvre, Chocolate Walking Tour and Christmas Market & Illuminations. From the moment I started communicating with Dominique till the end – she was very warm, friendly, accommodating and couldn’t do enough for us. We really felt looked after especially because my husband and I travelled with 2 kids during the busiest time (over Christmas and New Year) not to mention with very limited Fench. The highlight for the kids (and adults) were the Chocolate Walking tour at St Germain with Amandine, she was so engaging and had the kids captivated with all the sweets and yummy treats! The Treasure Hunt at The Louvre with Yaelle was also another highlight – she was warm and very good with our kids. Highly recommend and have already given Dominique’s details to a friend going over with kids soon 🙂 Merci beaucoup from all of us

Our family had a great time walking the streets of Paris and sampling the fine fare with Tim.

We enjoyed everything we tasted and the knowledge of the history of neighborhoods and the stores themselves.

His food recommendations were all fantastic and the way he engaged with our daughter (8yo) was great!

    Would highly recommend this tour.

The sweet and chocolate tour with Laurine was the highlight of our first trip to Paris! She was the perfect guide for our daughters (8 yo). We sampled the most delicious sweets and culminated in the kids making their own chocolate bars. Delicious & fun! Laurine kept all of us entertained and filled us in on local history and gave us tips on what to do during the rest of our trip. The kids are excited to go back to Paris and go on this tour again! Thank you Laurine!

We really enjoyed our tours with Meet the Locals in Paris and our guides, Sebastian and Charlotte, were fantastic. Excellent english and they really tried to engage with our two boys aged 9 and 12. We did several customised tours which were all great but of the activities, the kids enjoyed the chocolate walking tour and Louvre treasure hunt the best. Sebastian was very knowledgeable about the Louvre and worked hard at telling the kids about art pieces they would be interested in. Charlotte was awesome on the chocolate tour. Definitely a great experience.

We (a family of 5 including a teenager and two 11-year-olds) were very happy with both of our tours with Nathalie! Our Sweet & Chocolate Tour just so happened to take place on the record-breaking hottest temperature day in Paris. As luck would have it, we couldn’t have planned the day better. It was so comfortable being with Nathalie and the kids were very engaged. Walking into the shops (all with air conditioning) was a respite from the heat and delicious as well. I loved the selection of shops and myself and the two youngest children even went back and revisited some of them a few days later.
